As it has been announced in the media, on March 11th, the northern part on the main island of Japan was hit by a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 and the ensuing Tsunami occurred by the earthquake devastated the area killing and injuring numerous of the people and wreaked havoc on its infrastructure. Furthermore facilities of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants were heavily damaged. Therefore, JSME concluded that cooperation towards Japanese restoration should be the first priority and thus suspend the ICONE19 in Makuhari this May. However, JSME discussed the alternative ICONE19. Finally, JSME decided to hold the ICONE19 in Osaka (ICONE19 Osaka) this October. The ICONE19 Osaka is planning to hold the plenary session including the special session regarding the current situation of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants. In addition to that, the technical session have the oral and poster presentations of the papers included in the ICONE19 proceedings (CD). Details will be announced on the ICONE19 web site.
